Historic collection by Istanbul Beyazit State Library to be digital The first national library opened by the state during the late Ottoman era was the Beyazit State Library in Istanbul. To keep up with present day, the library is undertaking a project to transfer the rich resources to the digital environment. The acting director of the library, Ramazan Minder, said that the project is worth 3.5 million Turkish Lira.30 April 2021
Health tourism in Turkey attracts 100,000 foreign visitors In recent years, Turkey has invested in their health sector. This sector attracts foreigners and is responsible for contributing millions to health tourism. The first cruise ship of the season welcomed in Bodrum The first cruise ship of the season has been welcomed in Turkey and offers encouragement since COVID-19 brought travel to a standstill. Turkey’s southwestern Mugla province saw the cruise ship Viking Sea dock at a port in Bodrum, which is amongst one of the most popular resorts.27 April 2021
Over 1 million tourism workers to be vaccinated in Turkey Representatives from the tourism industry reported that Turkey has given vaccination priority to those working within the sector, which will keep the country ahead of their competition. Tourist numbers in Turkey expected to double those of 2020 Compared to last year when the coronavirus pandemic was rife, Turkey is looking to welcome twice as many tourists in 2021. Nadir Alpaslan, the Deputy Culture and Tourism Minister said that the country is expecting to play host to at least 34 million foreign visitors this year.23 April 2021

Erdogan determined to cut rates, build controversial canal President Erdogan has vowed to slash interest rates and plough ahead with the controversial Canal Istanbul project, a multi-billion dollar venture that will see part of Istanbul bisected to make way for an alternative route to the Bosphorus Strait. And that's certainly a possibility in the future, says the airport's chief executive officer. Turkey donates and exports 5,000 Ventilators The Industry and Technology Minister of Turkey, Mustafa Varank recently announced that Turkey has donated or exported at least 5,000 locally manufactured medical ventilators during the coronavirus pandemic to various locations worldwide in an effort to help other countries that are struggling with the virus.30 March 2021
Tourism in Turkey set to boom in 2021 The Chairperson, Firuz Baglikaya, of the TURSAB (Turkish Travel Agencies Association) recently confirmed that whilst tourist demands from European countries fell last year during the coronavirus pandemic, UK visitors continued to travel. If the pandemic continues in the same vein, large number of holidaymakers from the UK are expected this year too.
