When you arrive at Bodrum airport, you enter the gateway to a prominent area of Aegean, Turkey. Bodrum is one of two international airports in Aegean, Turkey, with the other one being Izmir. While Bodrum airport isn’t as big as Izmir, it is still Turkey’s third busiest touristic air travel hub that services the Bodrum peninsula. Also known as Milas airport, because of its region, domestic and international terminals host roughly 2 million passengers a year bought in by 48 airlines from around the world. Management and day to day running is done by TAV holdings which also operate other airports in Turkey. But what you can expect is cleanliness and efficient services to get you through the airport as smoothly as possible.

About Bodrum – Milas Airport

Bodrum Airport Facilities

Some experienced travellers might be dismayed at the lack of duty-free choices in Bodrum airport. However, run by ATU, shoppers can still pick up the usual gifts, alcohol, cigarettes, perfumes, and make-up. Otherwise, there are five places to choose from for food and drinks, including a Starbucks. Unlike other airports, the main halls do not offer free wi-fi, but anyone using the coffee shops or lounges can tap into it.

Otherwise, all other standard facilities are available, including luggage wrapping, lost, and found. For smoking areas, international terminals have two; the first is on the left-hand side of the building before checking in. Once through passport control, the second is up the escalator to the small courtyard area. To get maps of where everything is, download the official app.

The domestic Prime Class Lounge is open every day from 7.30 a.m. to 11.00 p.m. It offers air conditioning, business amenities, alcohol and soft beverages, disabled access, newspapers and magazines, an open buffet and snacks, TV and wi-fi. Children under 7 go free. Meanwhile, the international Comfort lounge that offers the same amenities is available 24 hours every day.

Transport to and From Bodrum Milas Airport

To hire a car, do this directly on the official Bodrum airport website. Alternatively, car hire companies rent by the day and week in international and domestic arrivals halls. From the airport, follow the main D300 Mugla- Bodrum highway to reach the resorts on the peninsula. The Havas shuttle bus services are great to get to the airport, and they run from the city centre every hour during peak holiday schedules. Again, check the official website or download the official Havas app for current timings because they change from winter to summer. There are also designated taxi areas for both international and domestic arrivals. Once again, a bus departs from the central Bodrum bus station every two hours to get to the airport.

COVID Airport Precautions

Bodrum airport is following strict protocols set in place by the Turkish government to minimise the spread of COVID. The airport has been mapped out to allow social distancing, and everyone must wear a mask. International arrival passengers and anyone entering the airport has their temperatures taken, and if above 37 degrees, are isolated for the attention of healthcare workers. Additionally, boarding of planes takes place with passengers at the back first.
