After all, Turkey's leader was once mayor of the country's largest city himself. Brits are shunning EU holidays in favour of Turkey Brexit's struck again. With uncertainty prevailing in the UK, fed-up Brits are looking outside the eurozone for holidays. A Thomas Cook report shows that bookings to Turkey have gone up by 27 percent over last year as Brits lock in package summer holidays. Ferry to run from Izmir to Athens from this summer From June 2 this summer, people will be able to use the new ferryboat scheduled to run from the district of Cesme in the western province of Turkey’s Izmir and the Greek town of Lavrion on the coast near Athens.
